One of the blogs that I read on a daily basis is having a wonderful giveaway! Please check it out. This is a great blog to read if you are like me just starting out with the fruits and labor of becoming self sufficient.

Let me know what your views are of becoming more self sufficient. I will start posting my journeys very soon.

Cape San Blas

Back in September Chris and I went on vacation down to Cape San Blas, FL with his grandparents. It was a wonderful vacation. It was a whole week of doing absolutely nothing or absolutely everything. I spent plenty of time just sitting on the beach staring out into the ocean. It was wonderful.

I got to watch Chris fish and kayak in the surf.

We also got to watch a hand full of beautiful sunsets.

I also had blast playing in the sand. It transported me right back to being 6 yrs old again.

So right now I am sitting here in the living room watching House on the DVR and listing to thing getting blown up from the computer room. It is a very odd combination. I surprised Chris with a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 today. He was so excited. So I stayed up last night and installed Win7 on the desktop and installed another GB of RAM.

This was how I found him after the install.

Castle Wars

So this year I haven’t been to many SCA events. A lot has to do with time and me being lazy. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love the SCA but I think that I was experiencing the burnout that so many people go through. It probably also had to do with the fact that I had just gone through a divorce and my ex still plays and the oddness of being at an event together. We get along great but I guess I wanted to avoid the questions and “oh I didn’t know’s.”

The last event I went to was to RUM which is a teaching event. Not so much about fighting. I went because Vivianna was receiving her protégé belt. It was a very happy day!

From RUM

I took Chris with me. This was not the best first event for him. It is can be very boring if you are not already into an art. So after the belting we skedaddled.

So I was finally able to talk Chris into giving the SCA one more try. Ben and Lindsey have decided that they would also like to go to Castle Wars. So this should be lots of fun. Andrea also let me know that she wants to go. This will be her 6th or 7th event so I am not worried about her at all. I have a sewing meeting with Ben and Lindsey tonight to figure out what we need to get together for them. The biggest thing is getting the leather for the belts. Hopefully Cory will have some left out of the bundle we bought awhile back.

So fast forward to today…

Ben and Lindsey came over last night to look at garb and to talk about what all we needed to get to make their garb. I think that I had them try on a little bit of everything. I ended up showing Ben my furry hat and he really liked it. I wake up this morning to emails with the hat that he made last night. I was highly impressed!

So this weekend will begin the sewing. I will post as we go along!

Jessica's Wedding

OK so maybe not the next day but I guess that this will have to do. I had a very busy, yet exciting weekend. My dear friend Jessica was married on Saturday. It is just like her to have a Halloween wedding. It was a beautiful and full of life wedding. There were giggles all around and smiles from ear to ear. The ceremony its self was pretty short and sweet, but hey we were there to marry her and Charles and that is what we accomplished.

She was a beautiful bride. It is hard to think that I met her when she was just barely a teenager.

I absolutely love this smile on Charles’ face.

Jessica will hate me for putting this on here, but I couldn’t resist. There is so much love and happiness exploding from their faces.

And so it begins...

So here goes nothing..

I read so many blogs daily that I thought that I would finally give it a try. I promise that I will not be as witty and informative as Pioneer Woman or as heartfelt and caring as Smithellaneous. But I will try my best to write in somewhat complete and coherent sentences.

So I guess that I should at least tell you about the characters that make up my story. Well there is my better half, Chris. He is what I believe that I have been looking for a very long time. He is the pop to my tart, the milky to my way, and the yin to my yang. He is a small town boy trying to make it in the big city.

From Cape San Blas 2009

Then there are our two dogs, Henry and Libby.

From 2009-11-10

Henry

From 2009-11-10

Libby

They are the sources of all of our trials and tribulations. Whether it is cleaning up after Libby when she eats part of the couch or dragging Henry outside when it is raining all it takes is for them to look at me with their big brown doe eyes and it makes everything that has gone wrong with the day melt away.

Then there is Mr. Diego. He really runs the show. It is just that no one knows that. He may be just a lizard but I think in one life he was part of a huge mafia family. It wouldn't take me by surprise to find out how many people he has sent to swim with the fishes and that he know where Hoffa’s body is because he put him there. He is one mean cricket killer.

From 2009-11-10

I guess that just leaves me. I am from a tiny southern town. Some people like to tell me that I have a good dose of southern charm, some tell me that it’s the kind of southern charm that you don’t want to make angry. Some people say that I am intimidating. I like to think that I am just independent. No don’t get me wrong I am one of those strange women that still like for a man to carry the heavy things, and open the door for me but I also like to be the one that is hooking up the washer and dryer while dinner is being cooked. So that makes up my house hold. I hope to deluge further into all of the wonderful people in our lives as the blog takes off and I become an amazing blog master. Yeah, right.

So I leave you with this small introduction with the hopes of updating tomorrow.

Till then,
